What to Expect, How to Prepare,
and How It Feels

Our trips are designed for capable, curious travelers. A little preparation goes a long way toward comfort and enjoyment and our team is always happy to help you prep and pack - give us a call anytime!

Packing Guide

  • Follow our official Predeparture Packing List that’s shared as a part of your confirmation packet to ensure you’re comfortable and prepared.
  • Less is more:  smaller stuff sacks beat bulky bags.
  • Bring:
    • Lightweight layers (especially Dec–Feb)
    • Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen)
    • Water shoes

For expedition-style trips, you’ll also receive our How to Pack for a Kayak Expedition PDF with visual guidance.

Health & Fitness

Most trips involve:

  • 2–4 hours of paddling per day
  • Optional short hikes
  • Beach camping

Guests of many ages and backgrounds join our trips. You don’t need expedition experience, just a reasonable level of fitness and a willingness to move daily. A bit of pre-trip conditioning helps you enjoy the experience fully, and we adapt to the group throughout the trip.

Insurance & Safety

We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers trip cancellation and emergency medical evacuation.

Our guides are:

  • Wilderness-trained
  • First-aid certified
  • Deeply experienced in this region

You’ll feel the difference in how the trip flows: calm, experienced, and well supported.

Connectivity & Disconnecting

Wi-Fi in Loreto can be inconsistent, and once we’re on the water, you’ll be mostly unplugged. Many guests describe this as one of the most restorative parts of the experience with your days shaped by tides, light, and conversation instead of screens.
