Why Guests Trust Us
With Their One Baja Trip
Baja has no shortage of outfitters. What’s rare is an operation built on continuity, care, and earned confidence.
Here’s what consistently sets Paddling South apart:
Guides You Can Relax With
Our guides are not rotating staff or seasonal freelancers. Many grew up on this coastline or have spent decades learning its rhythms. They bring calm judgment, deep local knowledge, and a genuine enjoyment of the people they travel with.
Guests often return to paddle with the same guides, forming relationships that last far beyond the trip.
Having run a guiding business in the Canadian Rockies for 37 years, I have some sense of what makes a good operation. And although the overall operation was excellent, it was your staff who made this trip so outstanding. – Peter, Vancouver
David and Adrian were tremendous. Kind, funny, knowledgeable, and endlessly helpful — they made us feel completely taken care of. By the end of the trip, it felt like we were traveling with family.
Shockingly Good Camp Food
If there’s one thing guests don’t expect—and never forget—it’s the food.
Fresh ceviche on a white-sand beach. Warm tortillas at sunset. Coffee waiting as the light changes over the water. Our camp cuisine is thoughtful, nourishing, and deeply tied to place.
Here’s one of the only ways to get true home-cooking in Baja. Ironic, but you’ll eat better on a beach than in town! Every meal was delicious – I’m definitely going back.
Antonio is THE BEST chef ever. Every single mouthful was delicious – the freshest fish, unforgettable ceviche, and meals I literally licked my plate over. If you can get on a trip with Antonio, seize the opportunity.
Wildlife Encounters That Feel Earned
The Sea of Cortez is one of the most biologically rich bodies of water on Earth. Dolphins, whales, sea lions, and vibrant reef life are part of this ecosystem, but never guaranteed.
We approach wildlife with reverence, patience, and respect. When encounters happen, they feel humbling, emotional, and unforgettable.
An inspiring week in Baja heaven – whales, dolphins, marine mammals everywhere. If you love wildlife, great food, and adventure, this is a bucket-list trip.
We had close encounters with humpback and gray whales, dolphins, sea turtles — even watched marine life from camp. Between the wildlife, coastline, and islands, this trip was perfect in every way.

Thoughtful Support, Not Over-Management
Our trips are designed for capable adults who want challenges without unnecessary suffering.
Small groups. High guide-to-guest ratios. Optional skiff support where appropriate. Every logistical detail handled quietly in the background. The result? You can fully engage—physically and mentally—without carrying the burden of risk or decision fatigue.
